San Fernando Valley Roller Derby Secures New Home! "The Lot"

After tirelessly scouring the San Fernando Valley in search of a place to call home, SFVRD has finally cemented their track at an outdoor lot in Sylmar. Just having celebrated SFVRD's third birthday, the league has given itself the ultimate gift and repaved the lot with derby-ready acrylic flooring and a permanent WFTDA-sanctioned track.

Killo Kitty, SFVRD founder and roller derby veteran, reflects on this feat for the league.  “Securing this space means securing our future.” “More practice means a stronger team, and a stronger bond with the comfort of finally having a place to call home.”

The aptly named lot, was a surprise for nearly the entire league, who was enticed to a mysterious, industrial location in Slymar, only to stumble upon our new home!  Skaters were inspired by Hollywood back lots for our home name, "The Lot."

"The Lot" will allow the league to triple their practice time, as well as offer private lessons. SFVRD also looks forward to increased fundraisers and events to fund on-going renovations and site upkeep. Saturday, November 23 marks the first bout to be hosted at the "The Lot", featuring SFVRD’s home teams, the Reseda Wreckers and Topanga Maul Rats.

Donations toward the setup and care of our new home can be sent via Paypal to Admin@sfvrollerderby.com
