The ladies of SFV are giving back to their community, on and off skates, with our monthly volunteer night at Hope of the Valley, a local shelter that has been preparing hot meals for the homeless and hungry since 2009. SFVRD arrived with fresh fruit, vegetables, bottled water and unparalleled positive energy. Our volunteers assisted Hope of The Valley with distributing shower supplies, roll call, setting out tables and chairs, and serving dinner to shelter residents. We were greeted with applause and gratitude, which warmed the hearts of even the most hardcore bully blockers!!! Coach Killo Kitty explained the game of roller derby and answered questions from the group. Although we were not able to actually skate around the shelter, we had a great time meeting the people and helping them get a healthy meal. Hope of The Valley is often low on supplies of paper goods, plastic utensils and would greatly appreciate any donations.
