The first weekend of April, SFVRD's A-Team, The Like OMGs, headed west to sunny Ventura for the first time to participate in the 2014 Battle for the Coast Tournament hosted by the Ventura County Derby Darlins. With a recent second place ranking at The Dustbowl Invitational Tournament in Bakersfield, their awesome WFTDA ranking debut, and continuous WFTDA rankings climb, these ladies were even more inspired and eager going into battle.
With major competitors like BADG's Wrecking Belles and the LADD Ri-Ettes, the stakes were high. On Day 1 of the tournament, The Like OMGs proved victorious over VCDD, SVRG, and DRB, but lost to the Wrecking Belles of BADG. This moved them on to Day 2 of the tournament.

Their first bout of the second day was against the LADD Ri-Ettes, who were the winners of last year's tournament. Ask anyone who attended that bout, it was THE game of the entire tournament. The Like OMGs held the lead for a good part of this nail biting face-off. As the bout went on, the lead switched back and fourth, only by a few points at a time. The crowd was on the edge of their seats with shouts and screams of excitement roaring from the entire venue. But in last few jams, LADD took the lead with a power jam. The Ri-Ettes were victorious by seven points. This moved The Like OMGs into the next bout, which determined who would take third place in the tournament.
The Like OMGs had their eyes set on third place and were victorious over Santa Cruz! The Wrecking Belles took first place and The Ri-Ettes took second. But there were still some additional victories to be had on behalf of SFVRD. During the awards ceremony, our very own Legacy was voted as the overall "MVP Blocker!" But it didn't end there...The Like OMGs Team Captain, Killo Kitty, was crowned the overall "MVP" of the 2014 Battle for the Coast Tournament! 2014 is shaping up to be a fantastic year, not only for The Like OMGs, but for SFVRD as well.
