Fresh off of a second place win at the Dustbowl Invitational Tournament last month, SFVRD entered the Battle for the Coast seeded first and proved that was exactly where they were meant to be. Six teams participated in this WFTDA sanctioned tournament to duke it out for the coveted trophy – the Battle for the Coast Oar.

Would you believe that in addition to the amazing and noteworthy accomplishment of playing the sport of roller derby some of our ladies actually pursue additional outside interests and hobbies?! As if derby did not consume enough of their spare time, these artistic and talented over-achievers wear many different hats. The call of derby lulls women from everywhere, with varying interests and stages of their careers. I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of our amazing SFV skaters and their artistic talents and hobbies outside of derby.

Bont Invitational: The Like OMGs Go Down Under
SFVRD’s all-star travel team, The Like OMGs, kicked off their 2015 season Down Under at The Bont Invitational in Newcastle, Australia. SFV was one of two international teams invited to the WFTDA tournament, with a team from Finland being the other non-Australian team participating. Teams from all over Australia competed, including the top-ranking WFTDA team, Victoria Roller Derby.
